Event Description Leonardo da Vinci was the original "Renaissance man" - an artist, inventor and engineer whose innovative designs, created 500 years ago, foretold many of the machines we use today.
Forty full-size replicas of those machines, painstakingly crafted from da Vinci's own technical drawings, will be on display from noon to 8 p.m. daily, beginning Jan. 2, at California University of Pennsylvania.
Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion, continues through May 6 in the South Conference Wing of the new Convocation Center at Cal U.
Admission is free. The public is welcome to attend.
The traveling exhibition invites interaction. Visitors can manipulate and activate most of the machines — the revolving crane, armored car, printing press, working robot and more.
Scientists and skilled artisans built the 40 replicas in collaboration with the Leonardo da Vinci Museum in Florence, Italy. The exhibition has drawn crowds to museums across the United States and around the world.
