What Is Your College Knowledge?
Start Date: 11/20/2013Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Date: 11/20/2013End Time: 12:30 PM

Event Description:
California University of Pennsylvania and The Consortium for Public Education will host “What Is Your College Knowledge?,” a program for high school students, from 10-12:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Cal U Convocation Center.

Not a typical campus tour, the interactive program allows high school students in grades 9-12 to learn about the college experience by speaking directly with faculty members and current students from several colleges and universities.

The event includes a presentation by university faculty who will discuss the qualities and skills that lead to college success. At informal sessions with university students, teens can ask questions about college classes and day-to-day life on campus.

“Our goal is that every student leaves high school with a viable plan for success,” says Dr. Linda L. Croushore, The Consortium’s executive director. “‘What Is Your College Knowledge?’ will raise students’ awareness of the options that are available to them and will help them realize how they can be successful.”

Participating high schools are Allderdice, Brashear, Carrick, Clairton City, Greensburg Salem, Laurel Highlands, McKeesport Area, South Allegheny, Steel Valley, Wilkinsburg and Yough.

In addition to Cal U, participating colleges and universities are: Carlow University, Community College of Allegheny County, Duquesne University and Slippery Rock University.
